This may seem like a hard thing to do. Plunge your self in cold water or turn the shower to as cold as you can. It can be slowly learned, while in a hot shower, then just put your arms in the spray of cold water. And gradually each day add a different body part.
We all hate that layer of fat that sits around the mid section better known as love handles, right? Several years ago, my friend Jack went on a wacky diet before his training. He would eat nothing but fruit until noon. He took a banana, some berries, and a melon, before he ran for one hour and swim for another hour and a half. Three months later, he had not lost any weight and was struggling to complete his races. He said later that he was so starved that he would eat anything he could lay his hand on. He also realized that he needed to eat a proper meal with proper nutrition for his physical fitness. He also needed to drink enough fluids before, during and after his exercise routine.

1. Try the distance – Do a “practice event” at your own pace a week or two before the event. You will learn a lot that will help you during your race. Think about things like:
- Pacing (for example, what pace do I need to do the swim in so the bike and run are doable?)
- Practice your transition strategy.
- How will you feel after riding and then transitioning to the run?
- Can you do the entire swim without resting? (most pool swims will let you rest at the wall but get out of the way of other competitors)
